Clinical Lead for Innovative Mental Health Service

We are seeking an exceptional Clinical Lead to join our team at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a Consultant Psychiatrist for Learning Disability and Autism, you will play a key role in leading our innovative specialist acute inpatient mental health service and outreach team in the South West region.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to their need, including psychiatric assessments, diagnostic formulation, and treatment planning.
- Work collaboratively with the unit's multi-disciplinary team, engaging in formal and ad hoc meetings relating to patient care and the efficient running of the unit and outreach team.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the trust, as well as colleagues in primary care, secondary care, third sector, and social care, as required.
- Share the Responsible Clinician role for the unit's inpatients with the unit's MPAC.
- Have a clinical supervisory role.
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of gaining CCT.
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
- Experience of assessing and treating LD patients in an inpatient and community setting.
- Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to manage own time, workload, and prioritise clinical work.
- Excellent communication skills, in order to effectively work with patients, carers, and staff.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to assess and treat psychiatric problems in adults with intellectual disability and/or autism.
- Understanding of the management skills required to function successfully as a Consultant.
- Knowledge of current government policies in Learning Disabilities.
- Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching.
- Experience or involvement in a research project and publication.
- Experience of carrying out an audit project.
- Evidence of management/leadership skills training.
- Independently mobile and willing to travel.
