Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

NHS Scotland is recognized as one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. Our organization is dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community health, and mental health services to a diverse population exceeding 1.15 million individuals.

The working schedule consists of day shifts from Monday to Sunday.

In a significant move towards improving work-life balance, NHS Scotland will transition to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, without any alteration in remuneration. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. Consequently, this job listing and any resulting employment contract will reflect the new working hours. However, due to varying service area capabilities, some employees may be required to work an additional 30 minutes weekly temporarily, for which they will be compensated until their respective service areas adapt to the new schedule.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Nurse Practitioner or a trainee to join our established and innovative team within the Acute Receiving Units and the Ambulatory Care Unit at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This is a pivotal moment for the development of our ambulatory care and acute receiving services, with the Senior Nurse Practitioner role being integral to enhancing unscheduled care services.

We are in search of a highly motivated individual who embodies flexibility, professionalism, and a strong work ethic. The ability to maintain composure under pressure is essential, along with exceptional communication and organizational skills. Candidates must demonstrate the capacity to collaborate effectively within a team while also being able to work independently.

The successful candidate will leverage their advanced clinical expertise and knowledge, employing a high level of critical thinking and clinical judgment. This role will require autonomous work with significant decision-making and problem-solving responsibilities.

Essential qualifications include being a Registered General Nurse on the NMC register. Applicants should possess or be pursuing a relevant Master’s level qualification in Advanced Practice, demonstrating competence in clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, decision-making, diagnostics, anatomy, and physiology, as well as being a registered non-medical prescriber. Ideally, candidates should have experience as an ANP in acute medicine and/or ambulatory care, or be an experienced RGN committed to undertaking the ANP training pathway.

The shift pattern for this position involves 12-hour shifts across 7 days, including public holidays.

NHS Scotland values diversity and encourages applications from all community sectors. We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture within our organization and take pride in our diverse workforce.

As a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, NHS Scotland is dedicated to being a Forces Friendly Employer, recognizing and valuing military skills, experience, and qualifications throughout the recruitment process.
