Key Responsibilities:
As a support specialist, you will be instrumental in providing crucial assistance to students with autism spectrum disorder.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Individualized Assistance:
Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with ASD, applying strategies customized to their unique needs and learning preferences.
Communication Facilitation:
Aid students in enhancing their communication abilities, utilizing visual supports, social narratives, and other resources to improve comprehension and expression.
Sensory Environment Management:
Establish a sensory-friendly atmosphere and employ sensory strategies to assist students facing sensory processing challenges.
Behavioral Guidance:
Implement constructive behavior management techniques, including reinforcement strategies and de-escalation methods, to foster a calm and supportive educational setting.
Collaborative Efforts:
Partner with educators, therapists, and other support personnel to create and execute individualized education plans for students, ensuring a comprehensive approach to their development.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you will need:
- An Enhanced DBS Check (or a willingness to obtain one)
- Relevant educational qualifications (assistance available if needed)
- Experience, whether personal or professional, in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
Additional Information:
Work Hours:
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 15:30.
Compensation:
Competitive salary based on the M- M6 teaching scale, determined by qualifications and experience.
