Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Support Assistant to join our team at Livability. As an Education Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting Students
    • Provide individualized support to students with disabilities, enabling them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
    • Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting, dressing, and feeding.
    • Support students with communication needs, using alternative communication systems such as Makaton and Object Cues.
  • Collaboration with Teachers
    • Work closely with teachers to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students.
    • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, including setting up activities and resources.
  • Animal Care and Horticulture
    • Support the animal care team with tasks such as feeding, watering, and cleaning animal enclosures.
    • Assist the horticulture team with tasks such as weeding, watering, and harvesting.
  • Professional Development
    • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with disabilities.
    • Engage in external and internal training opportunities to stay up-to-date with best practices in education and disability support.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Skills and Experience
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
    • Experience working with students with disabilities, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Personal Qualities
    • Compassion, empathy, and understanding of the needs of students with disabilities.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
