Teaching Assistant Opportunity for SEMH and ASC Students

We are excited to be working with an excellent special school in Haywards Heath that caters to the needs of 6-12 year olds with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). The school is seeking a full-time teaching assistant to join their team and contribute to the education and well-being of their students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCPs to ensure students receive tailored support.
  • Support students in their learning activities, encouraging participation and engagement.
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment that fosters academic and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, understanding their individual needs and strengths.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and well-being.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people with SEMH difficulties or autistic spectrum conditions is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with colleagues and parents.
  • A commitment to our values of clarity, openness, and consistency in communication.
