London, Greater London, United Kingdom Rethink Mental Illness Full time

Rethink Mental Illness is seeking a dedicated and passionate Bank Trainee Multi-Disciplinary Advocate to join our Camden & Islington Advocacy Team.

We are committed to providing support and empowerment to individuals significantly impacted by mental illness. Our core values center around equity, respect, and dignity for all. We strive to create an inclusive and anti-racist environment that reflects the diverse communities we serve.

Advocacy: A Powerful Tool for Empowerment

Our advocacy services empower individuals to actively participate in decisions concerning their care, treatment, and living arrangements. Advocates provide guidance, support, and a voice to those who may find it challenging to navigate complex situations or express their needs effectively.

Your Role: Making a Difference Through Advocacy

As an unqualified advocate, you will embark on a journey of professional development by enrolling in the Level 4 Independent Advocacy Practice qualification. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship from experienced team members, gradually building your skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide both statutory (instructed) and non-statutory advocacy support to individuals within various settings, including secure facilities, hospitals, care homes, supported living environments, and private residences.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and goals, ensuring their voices are heard and respected throughout the process.
  • Empower individuals to make informed decisions about their care and support, advocating for their rights and best interests.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to client support.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to ethical guidelines and professional standards.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We are dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace that values the unique contributions of all individuals. We actively encourage applications from people with lived experience, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, and those from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
