The successful candidate will provide essential Instrumentation and Control Engineering support to the operational team on-site.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering engineering modifications where Instrumentation and Control Engineering is the primary focus.
- Offering technical expertise to the Projects team.
- Defining, scoping, and executing enhancements to instrumentation and safety systems.
- Serving as the engineering focal point for site projects, including conducting studies.
- Taking accountability for the long-term asset strategy related to Instrumentation and Safety Systems.
- Leading initiatives to improve plant reliability, equipment strategies, defect resolution, and equipment optimization.
- Establishing and managing the spares strategy for Instrumentation and Safety Systems.
- Conducting safety reviews, risk assessments, and investigations as the engineering focal point.
- Ensuring the integrity of assets and safety systems relevant to the discipline.
- Overseeing maintenance strategies for Instrumentation and Safety Systems equipment.
- Assisting the maintenance team with planned maintenance routines and addressing equipment failures, including fault investigation and resolution.
- Monitoring and advising on the technical and safety implications of any maintenance backlog.
- Coordinating additional vendor support as necessary.
- Maintaining key engineering documentation, including Control Philosophies, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Hazardous Area Drawings, Loop Diagrams, and Alarm Response Manuals, ensuring they are current.
- Acting as the primary point of accountability for Instrumentation and Safety Systems-led site activities.
- Serving as the Job Responsible Engineer for Management of Change (MOC) proposals related to Instrumentation and Safety Systems.
- Providing technical approval for engineering content in MOC proposals.
- Offering technical support for asset Turnaround (TAR) activities.
- Assisting the Technical Authority in developing and managing electrical practices and procedures.
- Traveling to offshore platforms or remote sites to provide technical assistance as required.
- Participating in the asset self-audit program.
Qualifications:
A degree in Instrument Engineering or a related field is required.
Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing chartered status is preferred.
Certification in BOSIET, Medical, and MIST is necessary for offshore travel.
Candidates should possess knowledge and experience in the design, operation, commissioning, and maintenance of legacy instrumentation, control systems, and Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems.
A comprehensive understanding of relevant UK regulations (Safety Case, COMAH, etc.) and industry standards is essential, including operations related to subsea and onshore pipelines.
