KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR BUILDING CONTROL SURVEYOR

  • Oversee the daily management of construction activities within the jurisdiction.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for significant and intricate projects as designated by the Building Control Manager, focusing on plan evaluations, site assessments, and regulatory enforcement.
  • Review architectural plans and notifications to ensure adherence to Building Regulations and related legislation, including the preparation of modification schedules.
  • Process submissions and notifications, drafting official notices, and making determinations on plans within established statutory timelines.
  • Engage in correspondence and discussions with relevant stakeholders regarding plans, notifications, and other pertinent matters, including Fire Services and Water Authorities.
  • Conduct on-site inspections related to various types of development projects.
  • Ensure the collection of fees and charges associated with Building Control applications, including supplementary fees, in compliance with the established fee structure and governing legislation.
  • Investigate reported violations of Building Regulations, identifying infractions, gathering evidence for legal proceedings, and representing the authority in court as necessary, adhering to the Enforcement Concordat and statutory deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of site inspections, communications, meetings, and correspondences.
  • Implement a collaborative 'Development Team Approach' to ensure cross-departmental compliance.
