About the Role

The Management Recruitment Group is seeking a seasoned professional to fill the position of Interim Head of Treasury and Investment for a local authority in London.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the treasury and investment team, driving excellence in financial management and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive investment and acquisition strategy, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Offer expert advice to stakeholders on treasury investment and debt portfolios, ensuring prudent financial management.
  • Deliver treasury management operations in compliance with the CIPFA Code of Practice for Treasury Management in Local Authorities.
  • Lead the formulation and implementation of the Council's investment strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee year-end processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Review and update treasury management policies, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and best practices.

Candidate Requirements

  • Full membership of a professional finance and accounting body, such as ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, or ICAS.
  • Proven experience leading treasury and investment teams, preferably in local government or the wider public sector.
  • Expertise in treasury management practices and CIPFA-recommended strategies.
  • Understanding of the Local Government Act 1972, Section 151.
  • Experience delivering investment strategies across large investment portfolios.
  • Proven track record in a similar position, demonstrating leadership and expertise in financial management.
