The Opportunity

Nutanix is seeking a talented software engineer to join our Cambridge-based engineering team and contribute to the development of our Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV) software solution.

AHV is a critical component of our software stack, providing enterprise-grade reliability, performance, and scalability for demanding workloads.

We are looking for a skilled software engineer who can design, develop, and maintain AHV features, collaborating with open-source communities and driving innovation in datacenter management.

About the Team

Our team is led by industry experts with 20+ years of experience, who are passionate about shaping the future of the software-defined datacenter.

We work with open-source technologies, including Linux KVM, QEMU, Open vSwitch, and Libvirt, and are committed to delivering high-quality software solutions.

Your Role

  • Design and develop AHV features, interacting with open-source communities and driving innovation in datacenter management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and support, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Mentor junior software engineers and contribute to the growth and development of our team.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our software solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of industry experience or equivalent research experience.
  • Strong coding skills in C and Python, with experience in enterprise-quality software development.
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux, OS internals, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with virtualization, storage, and network management.
  • Familiarity with KVM and QEMU is a plus.
