About the Role

As a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist at Amazon UK Services Ltd., you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and customers. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough Fire Risk Assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Fire Safety Plans to ensure compliance with regulations and industry best practices.
  • Ensure that all fire safety equipment is properly maintained and inspected to prevent accidents.
  • Train staff on fire prevention and emergency procedures to ensure they are equipped to respond in case of an emergency.
  • Coordinate fire drills and emergency evacuation plans to ensure a smooth and safe evacuation process.
  • Investigate fire incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Advise on building design and modifications to ensure that they meet fire safety standards.
  • Promote fire safety awareness among employees and customers to create a culture of safety.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports to track fire safety performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with emergency services to ensure a swift and effective response in case of an emergency.

A Day in the Life

You will be based on-site at one of our locations, where you will work closely with employees and management to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them. You will also work with our emergency services team to ensure a swift and effective response in case of an emergency.

Requirements

  • A NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ5 level or equivalent qualification in fire safety or a related field.
  • Certification in fire safety or related fields required (NEBOSH Fire Safety Minimum).
  • Experience with UK Environment, Health and Safety legislation.
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of fire safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for training and reporting.
  • Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions in emergencies.
  • Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
  • Fire Risk Assessor (FRA) qualification – legally required to perform FRA's.
