Workplace Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role:
Amazon UK Services Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Workplace Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our workforce by implementing safety measures to create a secure and healthy work environment.
This hands-on role allows you to make a meaningful impact on a daily basis by keeping individuals safe and motivated in their roles. You will be responsible for conducting fire risk assessments, developing and implementing fire safety plans, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations, and training staff on fire prevention and emergency procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough fire risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Develop and implement comprehensive fire safety plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all staff are trained on fire prevention and emergency procedures to minimize the risk of injury or damage.
- Inspect and maintain fire safety equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
- Coordinate fire drills and emergency evacuation plans to ensure a swift and safe response in the event of an emergency.
- Investigate fire incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Advise on building design and modifications to ensure they meet fire safety standards.
- Promote fire safety awareness among staff to create a culture of safety within the organization.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports to track safety performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with emergency services to ensure a coordinated response in the event of an emergency.
A Day in the Life:
As a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist, you will be stationed at one of our Amazon sites, where you will oversee safety procedures and identify areas for improvement. You will work closely with colleagues to gather data and implement training programs to enhance safety practices.
About the Team:
You will be part of Amazon UK Services Ltd.'s Transportation Service (ATS) team, which plays a critical role in the company's operations. The team utilizes various transportation methods to ensure efficient delivery, supported by advanced technology. Safety is paramount, and the team's expertise drives Amazon's innovation and efficiency.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH Diploma/NVQ5 level or equivalent in occupational health and safety.
- Certification in fire safety.
- Familiarity with UK health and safety laws.
- Strong communication skills to effectively train and advise staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of fire safety regulations.
- Analytical abilities for risk assessment.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively train and advise staff.
