About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As a key member of our Health and Safety team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to managers and staff across the organisation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing accurate and timely health and safety advice to managers and staff
  • Assessing training needs and delivering training on health and safety topics
  • Encouraging effective working between Occupational Health, Human Resources and Managers
  • Engaging and influencing senior managers on health and safety performance reporting
  • Working with Directorates on health and safety improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Post graduate qualification to masters level in occupational health and safety or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Possession of Chartered Safety Practitioner with the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or working towards
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
  • Experience as a Health and Safety Advisor providing advice, training, auditing, policy formation, facilitating consultation and planning
  • Experience of working for a multi-site organisation
  • Experience of accident investigation, inspections and audit
  • Experience of working closely with occupational health to find practical and effective workplace solutions
