Job Title: Head of Commercial and Procurement

At Barclay Meade, we are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to head our commercial and procurement function. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the regional procurement organization, utilizing a corporate shared service structure, to manage all direct, raw materials, and large indirect spends.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the annual raw material/supplier risk mitigation process to reduce ongoing risk within individual raw materials and the supply community.
  • Develop and manage supplier contracts, negotiating and developing agreements to mitigate risk.
  • Develop cash management strategies, including Vendor Managed Inventory and payment terms, to optimize procurement activities.
  • Lead and/or facilitate the sustainability process, ensuring procurement activities are lawful, ethical, and follow procurement policies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Purchasing, or Supply Chain, with a Master's (MBA) or post-graduate degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in raw materials-related industry, with strong knowledge of risk management and contract development.
  • Proven negotiation and contract development skills, with excellent interpersonal skills and team-building ability.
  • Ability to analyze markets and financials of the supply community and contract offers.
Location and Relationships:

Based in the UK office in Slough, reporting to the VP & GM, and working closely with Technology, Operations, Finance, Quality, and Sales teams.

  • Create, manage, and execute raw material category strategies regionally.
  • Proactively communicate supply chain issues or major cost variances to internal stakeholders.
