Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of professional and technical engineering staff to provide software development for new product development, iR&D, and product support teams.
  • Talent Development: Organize and build a talent base within the Avionics team, create opportunities for growth and development of the engineering team.
  • Process Improvement: Improve the efficiency of the software engineering functions through creative organizational management, effective use of engineering tools, and continuous improvement.
  • Consistency and Best Practices: Drive consistency and best practices across the organization with respect to product documentation, design standards, and related material specifications.
  • Product Design: Assure that product designs are competitive on a global basis with respect to quality, reliability, and cost.
  • Collaboration: Work with Aerospace Group level and corporate level Centres of Excellences, including Pune, India, for a seamless product development, execution process, and organizational capability development.
  • Design and Analysis: Use best practices of robust design (Design for Six Sigma, DFSS) and promote the 'analysis first' mindset.
  • Digital Transformation: Establish digital processes and experience within the engineering team aligned to the Aerospace Group strategy.
  • Metrics and Performance: Identify key engineering metrics, monitor performance, and implement improvements accordingly.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain close liaison with the Operational Excellence organization to ensure high quality and year-over-year manufacturing cost reductions.
  • University Partnerships: Establish and maintain contacts with universities to develop advanced products and potential new hires.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Engineering or Software and Computer Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Ideally 8-10 years of experience within the aerospace industry, including experience in software development and verification for the managerial position.
  • Skills: Experience with software development and verification, knowledge and application of DO-178, embedded C experience, familiarity with aerospace industry processes and standards, and familiarity with aerospace AAR, Actuation, or Environmental systems and products.
