Role Overview: As a vital member of the Court of Protection team, the successful candidate will:

  • Support solicitors in managing cases related to professional deputyships and trusteeships.
  • Prepare legal documents, including court applications, statements, and correspondence.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, their families, solicitors, therapists, and other professionals through various channels.
  • Compile annual reports for the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG).
  • Handle First-Line Assistance (FLA) inquiries within your expertise.
  • Oversee deputyship and client designated account balances, providing regular financial updates to file handlers.
  • Process payments from deputyship and client designated accounts as authorized by file handlers.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of deputyship and client designated accounts.
  • Manage a caseload of execution-only Personal Injury Trusts and lay deputyship applications.
  • Open and close files as necessary.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong numerical and file management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Understanding of statutory obligations related to Court of Protection and deputyship matters.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • Experience in direct client interaction, both in-person and via phone.
  • Familiarity with electronic case management systems and collaboration with trade unions.
