Used Car Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Used Car Manager to join our team at Wessex Garages Holdings Ltd in Bristol.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Source and manage used car stock to optimize sales and profitability.
  • Effectively price and value used car stock to maximize returns.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle appraisals to ensure accurate valuations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage overage stock and minimize losses.
  • Monitor and analyze stock management principles to improve stock turn and disposal strategies.
  • Manage departmental P&L, budget performance, and margins.
  • Maximize profit centers and ensure accurate reporting of margins and volumes.
  • Implement and adhere to sales processes and procedures.
  • Provide staff training, coaching, and development, including appraisal training.
  • Ensure used car displays meet manufacturer standards, including security and display requirements.
  • Lead management of EnqMax and The Hub systems to achieve minimum group standards of response.
  • Monitor and maintain business manager office performance, including daily updates of DOC and brand trackers.
  • Manage in-house purchases through service departments and ensure timely turnaround of used car stock for display.
  • Maintain group standards for preparation and ensure timely resolution of customer complaints.
  • Adhere to group policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements, including FCA and trading standards compliance.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal control matters.
