Job Summary

We are seeking a fully trained and motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our Clinical Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting clinical support tasks, infection control tasks, restocking, and stock rotation. They will work closely with our clinicians to provide high-quality patient care and support.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture, ear syringing, removal of sutures and clips, ECGs, urine testing, blood pressure measurement and monitoring, and follow-up dressings safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with setting up for minor surgery procedures, including dermatology, IUD insertion and removal, and minor operations.
  • Give advice on health promotion, including new patient health checks for patients with long-term conditions.
  • Maintain accurate stock records, including liaison with Practice Nurse Team Leaders.
  • Chaperone duties and sterilize the ear syringe monthly using a Milton tablet.

  • Recognize and work within own competence and in accordance with national and local guidelines.
  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous, and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines.
  • Reporting on Significant Events.
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organization.
  • Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records on EMIS Web.
  • Contributing to the summarizing of patient records and SNOMED-coding patient data.
  • Participate in regular staff training sessions to ensure development of skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in clinical, multi-disciplinary, and whole team meetings.
  • Observe and comply with all appropriate statutory requirements in relation to Child and Adult Safeguarding.

Person Specification

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and maths.
  • Certificate of competence in phlebotomy.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in primary care.
  • Awareness of clinical governance and knowledge of patient group directions and associated policy.
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Be initiative-taking with excellent timekeeping.
  • Good IT knowledge and exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Package.
