About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Haematology and Blood Transfusion department, you will play a vital role in providing a high-quality service to our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Undertake a range of complex investigations to assist in the diagnosis of disease and monitoring of treatment.
  • Rotate through Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion, and Immunohaematology sections, utilizing manual, semi-automated, and automated techniques on specialized analytical equipment.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide a seamless service to our patients.
Requirements
  • Current HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
  • Substantive post-registration experience and competency in required activities, preferably in a UK Pathology service Haematology/Blood Transfusion laboratory.
  • Experience of using relevant instrumentation within the laboratory.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Able to work to an appropriate standard of competency in all sections and maintain those skills through rotation.
  • Sufficient skills and knowledge to deputize for Band 7 staff in their absence, maintaining workflow and managing staffing.
  • Able to assist with training and management of Practitioner BMS staff.
  • IT skills appropriate to the department.
