Position Overview

Square is seeking a highly skilled professional to oversee compliance and anti-money laundering initiatives in the UK. This pivotal role will report directly to the regional Chief Compliance Officer for Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement compliance controls and processes in alignment with regulatory and AML/CTF programs.
  • Collaborate with the global Compliance team to maintain an effective AML/CTF program and fulfill all regulatory obligations.
  • Promote a culture of compliance across the organization, prioritizing customer perspectives.
  • Develop and execute AML and financial crime processes, ensuring adherence to business and regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate risk-based Know Your Customer and Transaction Monitoring programs to identify and investigate suspicious activities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with relevant authorities, payment schemes, and regulators to stay updated on Financial Crime trends.
  • Oversee the UK Compliance team's operations, including training, capacity planning, and performance tracking.
  • Work with Compliance leads to set strategic planning, organizational structure, and quarterly objectives.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and analyze new regulatory developments impacting business activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and the Board of Directors regarding compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with internal compliance teams to identify steps to mitigate regulatory risks and provide actionable solutions.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a complex financial services environment or related e-money/payments sector, with expertise at a Head of Compliance, MLRO, or Deputy MLRO level.
  • Operational knowledge in establishing and managing a robust compliance program, with a thorough understanding of UK regulatory requirements.
  • The ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues across various levels and locations.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
