Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recovery Team Leader to join our dynamic team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our perioperative care team, you will be responsible for leading a team of recovery staff in providing high-quality patient care in our Elective Orthopaedic Unit.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of recovery staff in providing safe and efficient patient care in the operating theatres and outlying anaesthetic service areas.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the needs of patients on an ongoing basis, coordinating the care given by all members of the clinical team.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their relatives, ensuring accurate information is presented in a sensitive and understandable manner.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained, reflecting changes in patient condition and treatment delivered.
  • Contribute to the health education of patients and their families, ensuring they receive appropriate advice and support to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
  • Act as a mentor to junior staff members, responsible for their orientation, supervision, and ongoing development.
  • Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives to evaluate standards of care and implement changes as necessary.
Requirements
  • 1st level Registered General Nurse (NMC Pin) or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Further relevant professional studies or working towards a course (Recovery, Pain, High Dependency Unit).
  • Ability to organise and manage day-to-day departmental activities and the activities of a large multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills, with the ability to lead a team to achieve results.
