Job Title: Lead AWS Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Lead AWS Platform Engineer to join our team at Octopus Energy. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and automating the deployment of secure and scalable AWS infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and automation of AWS infrastructure deployment
  • Own technical decisions to develop and manage the platform engineering roadmap
  • Build and maintain robust and secure CI/CD pipelines
  • Plan and implement solutions for backup and recovery, high availability, key management, and other strategic initiatives
  • Solve platform problems with software, writing scalable, robust, and secure code in TypeScript
  • Setup and maintain monitoring, metrics, and reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting
  • Lead a team of engineers, seeking feedback and growing skills as technical professionals
  • Effectively communicate goals, expectations, and feedback to team members
  • Work with delivery teams to ensure services adhere to the AWS Well-Architected Framework
Requirements:
  • Multiple years of experience working with AWS
  • Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills
  • Team leadership experience
  • Experience in implementing and automating security best practices
  • Strong understanding of common AWS services to deliver end-to-end architectures and designs
  • Proficient with DevOps methodologies, CI/CD, version control, and full-stack repeatability
  • Experience working with infrastructure as code tools, such as CloudFormation, Terraform, and CDK
  • Software development experience in TypeScript
Desirable Skills:
  • Foundational networking knowledge
  • AWS networking knowledge
  • Awareness of security processes and DevOps security tools
