About the Role

The British Museum is seeking a skilled Service Operations Support professional to join its Service Operations Team. As a key member of the team, you will provide technical support services across the Museum, ensuring the continued operation of information systems to agreed service levels.

You will work closely with colleagues within the Information Services (IS) department and the wider Museum to deliver packages of work, assist on IT projects, and provide specialist and technical end-user support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for Museum information systems and services, including public-facing, curatorial, and administrative applications, as well as infrastructure and common desktop components.
  • Staff the IS Helpdesk, responding to and recording user requests, problems, and enquiries via phone, email, remotely, and face-to-face.
  • Prioritize and resolve reported faults in line with agreed service levels and schedules, conforming to user response and management escalation criteria.
  • Prepare standardized solutions and guidance for common problems and identify training needs as necessary.
  • Scope and champion user requests, bringing specialists skills to deliver packages of work, such as installing new equipment during office refurbishments or requirements determination for projects with an IT element.
  • Mobilize and monitor third-party support organizations as required.
About You
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure, prioritize workloads effectively, and be a good team player.
  • Successful problem resolution work in Microsoft Windows-based environments with an understanding of Windows desktop deployment services and management of client-server technologies.
  • Ideal experience as Helpdesk Support.
