The Role:

The objective of this position is to guarantee that project requirements or components of project requirements are fulfilled on schedule, within budget, and to the specified quality standards, while fostering and sustaining robust client relationships.

This role encompasses everything from supplier selection and evaluation to the direct delivery of engineering/design scope for designated projects.

The Project Engineer integrates a solid foundational understanding of diverse engineering disciplines, enabling the delivery of complex integrated design solutions and overseeing value engineering and project-level delivery.

Main Responsibilities:

Engineering
  • Ensures design compliance with engineering principles, company standards, client contract specifications, and relevant legislation.
  • Coordinates activities related to technical advancements, scheduling, and resolution of engineering design and testing challenges.
  • Manages expenditures within the constraints of the project budget.
  • Approves supplier/subcontractor documentation on behalf of the Project Engineering Manager.
  • Prepares estimates for changes and collaborates with the project team to ensure timely coordination and delivery.
  • Reports on project technical scope performance against the baseline plan and anticipated project benefits.
  • Ensures coordination among all facets of engineering, design work, construction, and manufacturing for on-site delivery.
Quality
  • Collaborates with the Project Engineering Manager and Construction Manager to ensure all engineering work meets quality and HSE contract requirements.
  • Ensures design and construction reviews are conducted in accordance with company and client procedures.
  • Works alongside the Project Engineering Manager and Construction Manager to ensure adequate resources are available for efficient and timely execution of construction activities in line with the schedule.
  • Adheres to time schedules, man-hour budgets, project policies, and specifications established for the project or contract.
  • Ensures that the technical team and any third-party technical contractors comply with the overall project quality plan throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Verifies that the technical team and any third-party technical contractors possess the necessary qualifications and experience for their designated tasks or roles.
Accountability
  • Manages interfaces with external parties and internal stakeholders with a degree of autonomy.
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships throughout the project, addressing inquiries as needed.
  • Conducts and documents customer interface meetings as required.
  • Ensures technical risks are identified and regularly reviewed with the Project Engineering Manager.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience across the full design project lifecycle, preferably in the Mechanical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Project Engineer.
  • A minimum of 3 years working within multicultural teams.
  • Demonstrated success in Project Engineer roles.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and the ability to work independently in highly regulated environments (experience in the Nuclear industry is desirable).
  • Eligibility to obtain SC Clearance is required.
  • Degree-level education in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Professional qualifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or EUR ING (where applicable).
  • Project Management qualifications/accreditations such as APM or PMI would be advantageous.
