The Role: Electrician - HMP Portland

We are seeking a highly skilled Level 3 Electrician to join our team at HMP Portland, a category C adult prison and YOI on the Isle of Portland, Dorset. As part of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will contribute to the smooth and safe operation of this complex facility.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Carry out electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance across a range of systems within HMP Portland.
  • Work collaboratively with other tradespeople to ensure the efficient functioning of the prison infrastructure.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and regulations to maintain a secure and healthy working environment.
  • Contribute to planned preventive maintenance operations to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.

About You:

You are a qualified Electrician with a proven track record of success in commercial or industrial settings. You possess excellent problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installations (C&G 2367 or 2357) or equivalent.
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Certificate in BS7671.
  • Minimum two years of experience working as an electrician.
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices within a construction environment.
