Claims Handler Assistant

Role Overview
The Fraud Case Assistant role involves undertaking delegated actions in case strategies to achieve the best possible outcome in cases. This role will not have ownership of any cases, but will be responsible for carrying out individual file handling tasks on cases in support of the Claims Handlers. The role will encompass procedural drafting and compliance, investigations, and evidential reviews.
Key Responsibilities
The work handled by the Fraud Case Assistant will be determined by the caseload of the Claims Handlers they are aligned with. This includes:
- Procedural Drafting
- Drafting court documents and understanding of processes
- Ensuring compliance with the court timetable
- Investigations
- Evidential reviews and assessments
- Liaising with policyholders and witnesses
- Proofing of key witnesses
- Working with counsel
- Instructing experts – internal and/or external suppliers
- Resolution
- Negotiation of third-party costs in accordance with the CPR
- Drafting of appropriate settlement documentation
- Case Management
- Assisting on files in accordance with agreed client guidelines
- Ensuring maximum client satisfaction on each case
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Established Interest in Law
- Further education (e.g. LPC or ILEX) or experience within a process-driven legal environment
- Experience of Drafting Court Documents
- Understanding of processes and procedures
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Good telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside the business
- Organisational and Time Management Skills
- An ability to organise and prioritise tasks using initiative
- Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
- An ability to analyse evidence and make informed decisions
- Teamwork and Collaboration
- Good team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met
Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location for this role is Parklands, Bolton office. We are agile workers with attendance at the office at least 1 day per week.
