Mechanical Maintenance Specialist

As a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist at our Rig Aftermarket division, you will adopt a customer-centric approach, recognizing that your contributions are vital for the effective operation of our workspace and production setting.
In this role, you will be tasked with disassembling, evaluating, reconstructing, and testing various equipment related to NOV Rig technologies. Your efforts will support and enhance the timely assembly and testing of equipment, while also fostering innovative thinking and efficient problem resolution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret and adhere to diagrams, engineering schematics, specifications, bills of materials, and other written guidelines to accurately assemble equipment and products.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using engineering measurement tools such as Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, and Dial Indicators.
- Complete all job-related Quality Assurance Plans, Workscopes, Route Carts, Inspection Reports, Test Reports, and Build Sheets as the project progresses.
- Conduct equipment testing and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) in accordance with NOV protocols.
- Identify product flaws and ensure proper documentation is completed when defects are found.
- Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products in line with engineering specification modifications.
- Support key initiatives such as timely delivery, schedule adherence, and quality cost management.
- Generate and implement improvement suggestions while encouraging team members to contribute ideas, prioritizing safety and escalating concerns as necessary.
- Perform troubleshooting on equipment and systems, utilizing proactive root cause analysis techniques (e.g., Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys).
- Assist with all Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR).
- Participate in daily team briefings, engaging in constructive discussions regarding potential challenges.
- Collaborate with supervisors to address identified areas of non-compliance.
- Respond positively to suggested process enhancements and implement them as directed.
- Report any discrepancies in job procedures, processes, and timelines promptly to the supervisor and enact changes when instructed.
- Aim to maintain high performance in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Engagement while identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Execute all assigned tasks to achieve high levels of performance as set by the supervisor.
- Ensure the proper movement of job components through the workflow, maintaining organization in designated areas.
- Operate designated machinery safely and competently, adhering to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) and housekeeping standards.
- Contribute to toolbox talks actively.
- Completion of a time-served apprenticeship or HND in a relevant field (essential).
- Higher education in a relevant discipline (desirable).
- Practical knowledge in oil & gas, heavy machinery, factory operations, or mechanical aerospace environments (essential).
- Familiarity with Pressure Equipment (essential).
- Experience with Hydraulic systems (essential).
- Pressure testing experience (desirable).
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (essential).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (essential).
