Ballynahinch, United Kingdom National Trust Full time

Overview

***INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE***

As a vital member of our internal Consultancy Service within the National Trust, you will engage in a Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs (DAERA) funded initiative focused on nature recovery across various countryside locations.

Our ambitious goals aim to enhance and integrate nature conservation efforts as part of our Land, Outdoors and Nature (LON) Programme. Collaborating closely with our Nature Conservation Adviser and countryside teams, you will coordinate and implement this initiative, which encompasses habitat management, conservation assessment, training, and sustainable access. Your role will involve liaising with countryside teams to gather management data, report on project outcomes, process grant applications, and communicate with DAERA.

Contract Duration: This position is a 6-month contract.

Salary: £30,966 per annum (actual salary will be pro-rata for the 6-month contract).

Work Environment

The National Trust manages a diverse array of properties and estates. You will have the chance to work across a stunning range of estates and countryside sites, contributing to meaningful conservation efforts alongside a dedicated team of multi-disciplinary consultants and property teams.

Your primary office location will be Rowallane Garden, Saintfield, with travel across Northern Ireland expected, although we promote the use of video conferencing and virtual meetings whenever feasible.

Key Responsibilities

In this role as a Nature Recovery Project Officer, you will provide essential project support and expertise for our DAERA-funded nature recovery initiatives. This includes:

  • Habitat management and conservation assessment.
  • Training and promoting sustainable access.
  • Tracking nature conservation objectives within the program.
  • Collaborating with countryside teams and relevant consultants to document management measures and report on project progress.
  • Maintaining updated records for our GIS Browser.
  • Regularly communicating with the Project Manager and Sponsor, preparing for Project Board meetings.
  • Monitoring project expenditures, submitting quarterly grant claims, managing risks, and liaising with DAERA.

You can review the complete role profile and context in the attached documents. While we appreciate diverse knowledge, skills, and experiences, you do not need to meet every requirement listed in the role profile.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We invite applications from individuals who possess:

  • Experience in project delivery aligned with National Trust Governance and Project Management Framework.
  • Knowledge of best practices in project processes and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the capacity to work efficiently.
  • A commitment to inclusion, ensuring everyone feels valued and welcomed.

Benefits

The National Trust is dedicated to creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong. We value diversity and aim to reflect the communities we serve. Our benefits include:

  • A substantial pension scheme of up to 10% of basic salary.
  • Complimentary access to National Trust properties for you, a guest, and your children (under 18).
  • Rental deposit loan scheme.
  • Season ticket loan.
  • Electric vehicle car lease scheme.
  • Discounts on gym memberships, shopping, and cinema tickets.
  • Holiday allowance of up to 32 days based on length of service, plus a holiday purchase scheme.
  • Flexible working arrangements when possible.
  • Employee assistance program.
  • Free parking at most Trust locations.
