About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Head of Carbon and Energy Tax. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of experts and contribute to shaping the UK's tax policy on carbon and energy.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in tax policy, with a focus on carbon and energy taxation. They will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and leadership to the team, as well as developing and advising ministers on tax policy.

The role will involve working closely with other government departments, including DESNZ, DEFRA, and DfT, as well as with HMRC and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively with senior decision-makers and influencers, both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of tax policies related to carbon and energy.
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership to the team.
  • Develop and advise ministers on tax policy.
  • Work closely with other government departments and stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with senior decision-makers and influencers.
Requirements
  • Strong background in tax policy, with a focus on carbon and energy taxation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
