About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Manager to join our Panel Services Management Team at the Government Legal Department. As a Data Manager, you will play a critical role in leading the collation, analysis, and presentation of data from multiple sources related to the use of the CCS legal services panels by the Government Legal Department and other customers of those panels.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with large volumes of data within an operational team, working closely with others to interrogate the data to ensure key themes are investigated and the correct interpretation is given. You will have a unique opportunity to work across government, with external partners and experts within the Government Legal Department and across Government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all scheduled management information is received in a timely manner and is accurately reported.
  • Review and collate the data using MS Excel, identifying significant errors in reporting or inconsistencies between reports and discussing anomalies where necessary, suggesting resolutions as appropriate.
  • Establish standard or bespoke reports using MS Excel (Pivot tables, Vlookups, Macros, graphs and charts) and PowerPoint, and create reports that make it easy to interpret the data.
  • Develop an understanding of the management information (MI) to communicate what is and isn't possible, helpful and meaningful to report on, and with the SRM provide alternatives where appropriate.
  • Provide forecasts and analysis from the reporting where possible and communicating the limitations of the data to enable reasonable conclusions to be drawn.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships within the PSM Team and with key internal stakeholders, including the wider MI team, leaders responsible for panel management, and panel firm staff.
  • Suggest and implement ways of improving and streamlining the team's collation and reporting of management information.
Person Specification

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritize their workload and deliver a good quality service at pace with an excellent attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in creating detailed and accurate analytical reports from a large volume of data and presenting and explaining their work to others.
  • Experience in spotting discrepancies, errors, and misreporting of information and engaging with the relevant people to ensure improvement or rectification.
  • Ability to identify issues/concerns timely and raise them with the appropriate stakeholder promptly.
  • Experience of working within a team and providing support to a team.
Technical Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills that will enable them to create data analytics and produce insightful reports.
  • Confident use of Pivot Tables and Excel Formulas to manipulate raw data.
  • Good working knowledge of using Microsoft packages Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
Benefits

As a member of the Government Legal Department, you will receive a salary of £31,393, plus a contribution towards your pension. You will also have access to learning and development opportunities, flexible working options, and a culture that encourages inclusion and diversity.
