We are looking for a skilled Advanced Teaching Assistant (ATA) to become part of a dedicated team in a specialized SEMH educational institution in the Wirral area. This institution serves students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), and is devoted to delivering exceptional care and education to foster their development.

The Role:

As an ATA, you will be instrumental in providing support to both students and educators, ensuring that each child receives personalized attention and tailored assistance necessary for their success. You will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to cultivate a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where every student can achieve their utmost potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learning Support: Aid in the planning and execution of lessons, working with small groups or individually with students to reinforce learning and help them navigate any challenges they encounter.
  • Compassion and Understanding: Demonstrate empathy and insight towards students with SEMH needs, fostering trusting relationships that support their emotional and academic growth.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Partner with teachers, parents, and multi-agency teams to ensure that the care and educational strategies for each student are effectively implemented.
  • Behavioral Guidance: Assist in managing classroom behavior, employing positive reinforcement and various strategies to promote students' emotional well-being.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in training and development opportunities to enhance your expertise and knowledge in working with children with special educational needs.

What We're Seeking:

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in educational settings is essential. Experience with children who have special educational needs, particularly SEMH, is highly valued.
  • Empathy and Patience: You possess a genuine commitment to supporting children with SEMH needs and can approach challenges with patience and understanding.
  • Team Collaboration: You are capable of working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support for each student.
  • Flexibility: You are adaptable and able to respond to the diverse needs of students, ensuring that each child receives optimal care and education.
  • Qualifications: ATA status or equivalent qualification is required.

All pay rates quoted will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of a permanent role becoming available later.
