Role Overview

The Procurement Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the Buyer(s), Senior Buyer(s), and Indirect Procurement Manager with various operational procurement tasks. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth functioning of the procurement department through effective administration, organization, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with some experience in administration or purchasing who are eager to develop a career in procurement. Working within a small team, this role offers a chance to learn and advance quickly, particularly for those who are organized and excel at building relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establishing and updating essential procurement parameters within our ERP System.
  • Communicating with suppliers regarding delivery schedules.
  • Transforming Purchase Requisitions into Purchase Orders and engaging with Suppliers for order confirmations.
  • Collaborating with the Finance department to verify invoices against Purchase Orders and Delivery Notes before approval by department heads.
  • Maintaining and updating Vendor Contacts and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) database information.
  • Tracking contract renewals.
  • Assisting with Business KPIs and departmental housekeeping.
  • Managing departmental inboxes.
  • Ensuring all activities comply with current policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the daily operations of the Purchasing Department and related activities.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Preferred qualifications include a relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree, along with GCSEs Level A-C or NVQ Level 2.
  • Strong analytical skills, numerical proficiency, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly the Microsoft Office suite.
