Job Title: Fitness to Practice Investigator

Job Summary:

Allen Lane is seeking a highly skilled Fitness to Practice Investigator to join our team. As a key member of our investigations team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough and impartial investigations into complaints against professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with complainants to gather information and ensure that enquiries can be opened as an S20 complaint.
  • Draft case plans for new cases, documenting key evidence to be obtained during the investigation.
  • Carry out all actions required to investigate and gather evidence on new complaints as identified in the case plan.
  • Take witness statements from complainants and other witnesses, as required.
  • Instruct counsel and expert opinion, as necessary.
  • Identify and arrange further investigation work where required.
  • Respond to enquiries and escalate as appropriate.
  • Ensure that hardcopy and electronic filing systems are up-to-date.
  • Draft correspondence for investigators and investigations managers.
  • Provide administrative support for investigating committee meetings, preparing and sending meeting bundles, sending Microsoft Teams links, and attending to the requirements of committee members.

Essential Criteria:

  • Highly developed ability to pay close attention to detail and quality assure own and other's work.
  • Well-developed oral communication skills to deal effectively, efficiently, and appropriately with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to research, analyze, summarize, and report on information in a systematic and coherent way, and make recommendations for appropriate policy responses supported by clear arguments and evidence.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and without close supervision, taking personal responsibility for specific projects.
