About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy Monitoring Officer to join our Legal Services team on an interim basis. The successful candidate will support the Monitoring Officer and provide technical legal support, particularly in the areas of report writing and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Monitoring Officer in ensuring the council's democratic and decision-making arrangements operate effectively in accordance with relevant legislation and the Council's Constitution.
  • Provide technical legal support, particularly in the areas of report writing and guidance.
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive and s151 Officer to drive improvements in governance in all areas of the Council.
  • Consider and recommend action in connection with any corporate governance, legal, procedural or constitutional issues that arise.
  • Drive effective collaboration across the Council, including with Members, to support delivery of corporate priorities.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of local government law and governance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
