This role is integral to our ongoing commitment to provide exceptional care and support for individuals experiencing significant respiratory challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive and holistic evaluations, clinical assessments, and the coordination of specialized care interventions aimed at managing respiratory symptoms and chronic respiratory illnesses.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to advance the quality of palliative care for respiratory patients throughout the Morecambe Bay region.
  • Engage with hospital and community services to facilitate safe and timely discharges for patients in the advanced stages of respiratory disease, ensuring they receive high-quality palliative care and have the option to choose their preferred care setting.
  • Work alongside support staff and other members of the high-risk service to assess, audit, and evaluate the service's effectiveness and impact, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and training to team members and the wider multidisciplinary team, promoting overall enhancements in palliative care for chronic respiratory conditions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Essential Qualifications:
    • Nursing degree
    • Qualification in Palliative Care
    • Recent specialized training or demonstrated competence in Palliative Care or Respiratory Care
  • Essential Skills and Experience:
    • In-depth knowledge in a relevant specialty
    • Proven advanced clinical skills in assessment, examination, and treatment
    • Strong clinical reasoning abilities
    • Experience in leadership and management
    • Exceptional communication skills
    • Background in clinical service improvement and audit
    • Experience in providing clinical supervision and education
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Ability to travel independently across the Morecambe Bay area
    • Recent clinical experience within the NHS or a UK hospice setting
    • Demonstrated enthusiasm and a solid understanding of the role and the high-risk service
