Job Summary

The Site Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities on site to ensure successful project completion within budget, quality standards, and contract period. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage operatives and sub-contractors, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control site activities to achieve project goals, maintaining high standards of health and safety.
  • Organize and coordinate site resources to optimize effectiveness, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Induct employees and sub-contractors on site, conducting regular toolbox talks and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure project-related filing and administration meet United Living's IMS and Project Filing Guide standards.
  • Identify and implement client-critical success factors, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Monitor progress against program, addressing shortcomings and issues promptly.
  • Review and coordinate contract drawings and specifications for all work sections.
  • Maintain records of requests for information, verbal instructions, delay, and disruption, protecting company liabilities.
  • Requisition site equipment, plant, and materials to ensure completion of works.
  • Communicate regularly with the line manager on site progress, advising of issues impacting the contract program.
  • Produce short-term programs for all trades to achieve main program dates.
  • Chair/attend weekly sub-contractor progress/planning meetings and record minutes.
  • Maintain high-quality daily records of site activities.
  • Supervise the implementation of work safety plans, method statements, risk assessments, and other works procedures, ensuring compliance and monitoring effectiveness.
  • Work collaboratively with external and internal departments to ensure smooth site operations and tasks are completed in line with program requirements.
  • Ensure all operatives and sub-contractors wear appropriate PPE during site activities.
  • Ensure all operatives and sub-contractors are suitably trained to use relevant plant and equipment.
  • Understand and gain working knowledge of relevant contract terms and conditions and associated obligations.
  • Work closely with the commercial team to be aware of the financial position of the contract and agree scopes of each sub-contract package.
  • Review day work sheets with the site QS before signing.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer focus and ability to deliver initiatives within the local community, supporting the company's corporate social responsibility.
  • Ensure quality control notices are issued to sub-contractors promptly.

Requirements

  • Appropriate CSCS card
  • Valid driving license
  • SMSTS certificate
  • First Aid at Work certificate desirable
  • Fire Marshall certificate desirable
  • Membership or working towards MCIOB or RICS is desirable
