Manufacturing Engineer Opportunity

Institute of the Motor Industry. limited is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

The Role: As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement process changes to enhance productivity and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain manufacturing processes and product structures to meet lean manufacturing standards.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement and implement changes.
  3. Ensure root cause and failure analysis is performed as required to minimize process/product variability.
  4. Develop and maintain proficiency in various software applications, including Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, and MS Office suite.
  5. Stay up-to-date with industry and customer-specific quality processes, including ISO9001 and AS9100.

Requirements:

  1. Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  2. Detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including value stream mapping and one piece flow.
  3. Understanding of Six Sigma concepts and tools, including regression analysis and design of experiments.
  4. Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies, including thought maps and root cause analysis.
  5. Proficiency in various software applications, including MiniTab and control charts.
  6. Knowledge of manufacturing principles and technical specifications to support facilities competencies.

Desirable:

  1. Detailed knowledge of engineering design and product reliability concepts to facilitate analysis of fluid dynamics and thermal dynamics.
  2. Understanding of ProLaunch and industry-specific quality processes.
  3. Knowledge of product and end-user application/specifications, including product testing requirements.
  4. Degree in Six Sigma or similar subject.
