Job Summary

The Storekeeper Accommodation Specialist supports the Senior Accommodation Storekeeper in the delivery of the physical allocation of the Single Living Accommodation (SLA) estate on Chicksands.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

By working with the Senior Accommodation Storekeeper, they work to the Accommodation Manager, to ensure SLA is prepared to the correct standard for occupation and that it is left in an appropriate condition by departing personnel. By monitoring the booking system, Single Living Accommodation Management Information System (SLAMIS) they ensure all rooms are placed on the appropriate cleaning list and all arrival packs and keys are prepared for the new arrivals. Ensuring rooms are correctly furnished, all faults reported and monitored and the keys work.

Key Tasks:

  • Conduct checks on SLA, ensuring it is prepared to the correct standard, carry out additional tasks to correct if required.
  • Report/monitor all accommodation faults to the Regional Prime Contractor (RPC), and ensure faults are rectified in the contracted time-frames.
  • Assist with the co-ordination and conduct march in/out activity for Service persons and entitled Civil servants for their allocated accommodation, ensuring correct processes are adhered to.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on SLA, ensuring it is being cleaned in line with policy. Authorised to have direct liaison with contracted cleaning provider, in the absence of the Senior Storekeeper (Accommodation).
  • Assist with the maintenance of SLAMIS as directed by line manager, prepare arrival paperwork and room keys for allocated Single Living Accommodation (SLA).
  • Liaise with Officers’ and Sergeants’ mess receptionists to maintain awareness of SLA requirement, identify potential shortfalls.
  • Authorised to have direct liaison with internal and external organisations in the execution of his/her duties.
Person Specification

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in housekeeping and or cleaning environment.
  • Experience of managing tasks in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of using computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • A driving licence is desirable.

This is an industrial grade, so can be physically demanding at times.

Desirable Skills:

  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
