Job Summary

As a Field Medical Expert, Rare Disease, you will provide expert scientific and medical input for assigned products across the product life cycle. This position supports the Core Medical Team Lead (CMTL) and Regional Medical Head within the TA as part of a global unit dedicated to rare disease.

You will collaborate across a matrix organization to ensure the creation and execution of the Core Medical Plan (CMP). The CMP includes MA-sponsored data generation (including Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) that addresses existing and future data gaps and supports reimbursement needs, a Publication Plan, Medical Tools, and other MA tactics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide input to help develop the overall global vision and direction for the medical strategy.
  • Contribute to the development of the Regional Medical plans for rare disease products and share responsibility for execution.
  • Collaborate with the rare disease (HEOR) Health Economics and Outcomes Research team to drive HEOR gap analysis in a particular jurisdiction and ensure projects to address these gaps are reflected in the regional medical plans and ultimately the Core Medical Plan.
  • Provide input into the creation of countries value dossiers and other outputs needed to support Access within the TA, but also working with the broader (MA) Medical Affair region as needed.
  • Facilitate HEOR research collaborations as appropriate and engage with internal HEOR research resources to deliver insights on evidence gaps and support execution of key projects aligned with rare disease strategy.
  • Principal, medical, field-based point of contact for population/value-based decision makers within designated health plans, especially including pharmacy directors, medical directors, Quality, and Health Outcomes/Analytics.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction across for outreach efforts and ensures all forms of scientific exchange are based on scientific validity, clinical importance, fiscal feasibility, and aligned to both the Core / Regional Medical Plans and local business needs.
  • Evidenced success in driving price execution to deliver optimal commercial return.
  • Medical specialty and/or experience in relevant therapeutic area (rare diseases).
  • Experience in working within cross-regional and cross-functional matrix teams either within Medical Affairs or clinical development.
  • Work experience across multiple cultures and countries/regions.
  • Medical Doctor or advanced clinical degree (i.e., PharmD) and certification recognized by one of the leading medical governing bodies from around the globe or equivalent.
