Operations Manager
Overview:
Gregory Group is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee our logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspire and guide a team of approximately 60 personnel, including drivers, warehouse employees, and administrative staff, to optimize performance and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and legal standards within the warehousing and transportation sectors.
- Strive to exceed customer expectations through proactive communication and the achievement of performance metrics.
- Manage financial aspects, including P&L accountability, to meet operational profit goals and commercial objectives.
- Proactively address changes driven by business expansion and evolving customer needs.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet contractual obligations and service delivery standards.
- Collaborate with other facilities to maintain service consistency and quality.
- Implement processes that surpass customer requirements.
- Maintain a positive operational culture, identifying risks and opportunities to safeguard profit margins.
- Optimize resource usage through strategic planning.
- Foster strong customer relationships through effective driver interactions.
- Promote the ongoing development of both direct and indirect staff.
- Recommend enhancements to operational practices affecting transportation services.
- Ensure compliance with LGV regulations, including 'O' licence conditions, driver hours, and vehicle upkeep.
- Adhere to Safe Systems of Work protocols, including personal hygiene standards and the use of appropriate uniforms and PPE.
- Comply with all Company Health & Safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the logistics sector, particularly in warehousing, transportation, and customer service management.
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement strategic improvement initiatives.
- CPC National and/or International certification.
- Track record of team leadership and successful change management.
- Strong background in customer relationship management.
- Excellent management skills with a focus on strategic decision-making.
- Effective influencing abilities, both internally and externally.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid understanding of legal compliance, driver regulations, and working time directives.
- Proficient in IT, including MS Office, with strong analytical skills for data review.
- Familiarity with transport management systems such as Mandata is advantageous.
