Overview:
Gregory Group is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee our logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire a diverse team of approximately 60 personnel, including drivers, warehouse operatives, and administrative staff, to optimize performance and achieve operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and legal standards in all warehousing and transportation activities.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by fostering effective communication and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Manage financial performance, including profit and loss accountability, to meet operational targets and commercial objectives.
- Proactively address changes driven by business expansion and evolving customer needs.
- Allocate resources efficiently to fulfill contractual obligations and service expectations.
- Collaborate with other distribution centers to maintain service quality and consistency.
- Implement processes that exceed customer expectations and enhance satisfaction.
- Identify risks and opportunities within operations, taking action to safeguard profit margins.
- Optimize resource utilization through strategic planning and asset management.
- Cultivate strong customer relationships through effective driver engagement.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among staff.
- Recommend enhancements to operational practices impacting transport functions.
- Adhere to legal requirements regarding 'O' licence conditions, driver working hours, and vehicle upkeep.
- Follow Safe Systems of Work diligently, ensuring personal hygiene and compliance with company standards.
- Uphold all Health & Safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the logistics sector, with a background in warehousing, transportation, and customer relations.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic improvement initiatives.
- CPC National and/or International certification is required.
- Track record of successfully leading teams and managing change.
- Strong background in customer relationship management.
- Excellent management skills with a focus on critical business decision-making.
- Effective influencing abilities, both internally and externally.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of legal compliance, driver regulations, and working time directives.
- Proficient in IT, including MS Office, with strong analytical skills for data review.
- Familiarity with transport management systems, such as Mandata, is advantageous.
