ROLE OVERVIEW

As a key member of our integrated Studio, the Senior Art Production Specialist plays a vital role in the development of various corporate communication projects. This includes the creation of print materials, interactive PDFs, presentations, online content, and branding assets. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting within our Studio systems and services. Regular interaction with clients and colleagues is essential, along with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively. Additionally, you will oversee the daily operations and provide support to 1-2 team members within the Artwork department.

With a solid foundation in software, digital, and print production, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality work on time, showcasing a keen eye for detail and strong technical skills in artwork. Your enthusiasm for resolving issues and troubleshooting file errors will be evident, as will your passion for utilizing advanced features of InDesign. A logical and methodical work style, combined with a readiness to explore new software capabilities, will enable you to work efficiently.

Effective communication is crucial as you engage with stakeholders, providing agile, solution-oriented approaches. You will be a critical thinker, striving to understand and enhance the work you produce. During quieter periods, you will focus on personal skill development, assist in the growth of others, and explore innovative and automated working methods, continuously seeking improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and construct artwork document templates based on creative assets and guidelines, ensuring adherence to corporate branding standards.
  • Develop and maintain interactive PDFs, PowerPoint presentations, and related documents for both print and digital formats.
  • Refine and efficiently construct technical content, such as financial tables and graphs, utilizing style sheets and templates as needed.
  • Link and format Word and Excel documents within InDesign files using a dynamic linking plugin.
  • Prepare files for our customer Self-Edit solution, optimizing the user experience while adhering to security protocols.
  • Conduct technical builds and checks of client Self-Edit desktops, documenting the setup process appropriately.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve internal and client technical issues related to file errors and document outputs, following established file management and security procedures.
  • Provide regular project updates, proactively identifying potential issues and escalating any delivery risks promptly.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support the training and development of less experienced colleagues.
  • Document relevant departmental processes and stay informed about industry trends.
  • Collaborate with other departments, offering mentorship and proactive assistance.
  • Oversee and support 1-2 individuals within the Artwork team.
  • Conduct quality checks and approve studio artwork, ensuring high standards of quality control.
  • Engage with and support the broader business, proposing technical solutions and staying updated on new technologies.
  • Deliver excellent service by resolving queries and providing effective solutions.
  • Maintain regular and effective communication, ensuring stakeholders are kept informed.
  • Adhere to all business processes, housekeeping, and workflows.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar role, preferably with a focus on long documents and corporate communications.
  • Qualification in Graphic Design/Visual Communications or equivalent experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of artwork techniques, print, and digital PDF processes, employing a structured and methodical approach.
  • Excellent organizational skills, capable of managing multiple activities and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Experience in managing or overseeing colleagues.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with high quality standards.
  • Familiarity with basic coding (GREP, HTML, CSS) and understanding of file management and artwork-related housekeeping is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (including InCopy) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth knowledge of the technical features of Adobe InDesign, including styles, table functions, GREP, and scripts.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable presenting to and training others.
  • Strong collaboration skills, able to build long-term relationships with clients and colleagues.
