About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Construction Project Manager and Project Director to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Design and Construction team, you will be responsible for managing complex construction projects from site selection through design completion, permitting, and contract execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage cross-functional industrial projects, coordinating with design teams and project stakeholders to ensure timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, driving results through risk assessment, decision-making, and leadership.
  • Oversee professional service providers to ensure their skills and competencies meet project requirements.
  • Negotiate construction, procurement, and labor contracts to secure the best possible terms.
  • Estimate costs, manage due diligence, schedule tracking, and forecasting to identify and mitigate potential project risks.
  • Supervise the implementation and management of Amazon's safety programs and standards.
  • Negotiate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to secure the best possible terms.
A Day in the Life

As a Senior Construction Project Manager and Project Director, you will represent Amazon and our Design and Construction team in ensuring the timely and budget-friendly execution of construction projects. You will lead and mentor large cross-functional teams, leveraging your expertise and tools to drive project success.

You will communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including senior management, peers, and vendors, to ensure seamless project execution. Your daily tasks may include site validation, due diligence, risk analysis, design management, contract and lease negotiations, stakeholder and vendor management, and jurisdictional coordination.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, construction management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of managing complex construction projects from design phase through implementation and operation.
  • Experience in negotiating construction, procurement, and labor contracts.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently, up to 40% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience operating within at least two disciplines in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated capability in planning, design review, and implementation, as well as project management and control of new structures and existing facility buildings.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary design incorporating industrial automation, robotics, or similar.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrated success in communicating to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
