Business Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Brand Business Consultant to join our team at the British Business Bank. As a key member of our Hub Team, you will play a vital role in supporting small businesses across the UK.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work with a unique and dynamic team, providing business support and loan assessments to small business owners. You will be responsible for managing and nurturing your own case load of Start Up Applicants, providing initial communication and ongoing engagement to support them through the application process.
You will conduct preliminary reviews of new applications to determine eligibility, readiness, and support requirements, as well as support Applicants in preparing their business documentation to meet the scheme's assessment criteria. You will provide ongoing business support to Applicants on a 1:1 or group basis, using a range of formats to help them understand, create, and refine core business documents.
As part of your role, you will be responsible for loan assessments, including conducting due diligence on each Applicant and making recommendations as to whether and why the Applicant should receive a Start Up Loan. You will work closely with the scheme's Lending Team to agree an outcome for all Applications and communicate outcomes to Applicants.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and nurture your own case load of Start Up Applicants
- Provide initial communication and ongoing engagement to support Applicants through the application process

To be successful in this role, you will have experience of working in a targeted and fast-paced customer service environment using a range of communication tools. You will be a natural people's person, with prior experience of managing relationships. Ideally, you will have knowledge of the business support landscape and a clear understanding of the challenges facing small business owners.
You will have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, communication skills both written and verbal, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality standards. You will be comfortable working with numbers and managing multiple systems, well-organised, and target-driven, with a passion to succeed and exceed against targets and objectives.
