Rowan Park Care Home is seeking to hire an Assistant Chef.

Our contemporary care facility, located in a picturesque rural setting, offers premium accommodations for 50 residents, specializing in Residential, Nursing, Dementia, and Respite care.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Head Chef to ensure the delivery of exceptional meals to our residents while maintaining efficient kitchen operations.

Assistant Chef Contract

  • £13.00 per hour
  • 30-hour work week
  • Pension plan
  • 5.6 weeks of annual leave (based on full-time employment)
  • Onsite parking available
  • DBS check required
  • Uniform provided

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Mandatory

  • City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or in progress)
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certification.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently

Preferred

  • Experience in food preparation for relevant service user demographics.
  • Previous experience in a care setting is beneficial but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve both hot and cold meals as required.
  • Support junior kitchen staff with various tasks.
  • Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in food handling and delivery.
  • Enhance and maintain professional knowledge and skills.
  • Keep accurate records of food supplies and monitor freezer/fridge temperatures.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and verifying deliveries.
  • Adhere to statutory Health & Safety standards in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure all kitchenware and equipment are cleaned and stored correctly.
