About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Mental Health team in West Wiltshire and Devizes. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing medical input and leadership to our Community Mental Health Team with a focus on patients from surgeries in Melksham and Trowbridge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat patients in a community setting, including ongoing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
  • Provide medical input and leadership to the Community Mental Health Team, with a focus on patients from surgeries in Melksham and Trowbridge.
  • Assess and treat outpatients in clinics, and fulfill the Responsible Clinician role with respect to patients subject to Community Treatment Orders.

Person Specification
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Relevant Higher Degree, e.g., MD, PhD, MSc, or other additional clinical qualifications
  • MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of gaining CCT
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment
  • CCT in General Adult Psychiatry
Requirements
  • Experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
Clinical Skills
  • Ability to assess and treat psychiatric problems in adults of working age and to deal with crisis situations
Teaching
  • Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching
Research and Audit
  • Experience or involvement in a research project and publication
  • Experience of carrying out an audit project
Management
  • Evidence of management/leadership skills training
