Position Overview

Head of IT Operations – Sheffield United

As the Head of IT Operations, you will play a pivotal role in managing the design, execution, and upkeep of the IT framework and systems at Sheffield United. Your leadership will guide a team of IT specialists, crafting and implementing technology strategies that align with the club's vision while ensuring the integrity and compliance of all technological resources.

Your technical acumen will be essential in enhancing the club's operational efficiency through dependable and effective technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the operational and strategic planning of the IT department, promoting innovation and judicious resource allocation.
  • Formulate and execute IT strategies that bolster the club's mission and propel technological progress.
  • Guarantee information security and adherence to pertinent standards, including ISO27001.
  • Oversee the installation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all IT systems, encompassing servers, personal computers, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
  • Supervise the delivery of end-user services, including help desk and technical assistance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish business and system requirements for new technology deployments.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the IT department, including procurement, budgeting, and financial reviews.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures, addressing areas such as architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, procurement, and service delivery.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Oversee IT personnel management, including recruitment, supervision, development, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure that business continuity and disaster recovery plans are established and routinely tested.
Key Requirements
  • A university degree in computer science or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing IT services within an organization, ideally across multiple locations.
  • Robust technical expertise in network and PC operating systems, servers, client operating systems, standard desktop applications, and mobile applications.
  • Experience in leading IT initiatives and providing comprehensive application support.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with IT systems and software utilized in sports organizations or stadiums is a plus.
