This position is part of the International Group within the Global Economics (GE) Team, comprising 17 skilled analysts dedicated to providing comprehensive analysis and policy recommendations on significant global economic matters, assessing their implications for the UK economy and its policy objectives.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading the assessment of the economic ramifications of foreign economic security strategies on both the global and UK economies.
  2. Conducting analyses of potential future scenarios related to geopolitical tensions and economic fragmentation, in collaboration with relevant governmental departments.
  3. Enhancing understanding of the economic challenges arising from the geopolitical dynamics between China and Western nations.
  4. Ensuring that your analyses align with the UK's domestic economic security strategies and broader growth objectives.

You will oversee all facets of evaluating the macroeconomic effects and sector-specific implications of economic security policies. Collaboration with various policy teams, including those from the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Business and Trade, will be essential to provide insightful analysis that informs the UK's stance on international economic security.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this position, a solid grasp of macroeconomic principles and the ability to perform quantitative macroeconomic analysis, including modeling, is essential. Proficiency in data analysis and the capability to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences are crucial.
