Role Overview:

As a key member of our Group Electrics & Controls Excavator team, you will report directly to the Lead Systems Engineer. This role is integral to ensuring that all new JCB product initiatives meet the essential technical requirements within the specified timelines. Your expertise in electrical and electronic engineering will be vital in delivering high-quality results.

Situated at our manufacturing facility, you will have the opportunity to engage directly with our products, ensuring that design specifications are effectively translated into operational performance.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the validation and verification processes for new electrical and electronic systems integrated into our Excavator product line. Collaborating with the systems engineering team, you will define, interpret, and develop the necessary validation and verification criteria to achieve a robust electrical/electronic system.

This position will involve coordinating validation and verification activities across various products, focusing on rationalization and commonality while advancing new technologies and methodologies to enhance testing efficiency.

As a Senior Engineer specializing in validation and verification, you will craft comprehensive test plans and manage the system design delivery. You will ensure that our fleet of machines is equipped with the latest components, software, and configurations, while meticulously documenting defects and conducting root cause analyses. Additionally, you will prepare system-level and module-level test specifications, developing test methodologies to demonstrate compliance with customer requirements through rigorous validation and verification processes.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Thriving in a dynamic environment, developing prototype solutions to validate concepts.
  • Defining test plans to facilitate thorough validation and verification activities.
  • Coordinating machine components, software, and setups to ensure robust testing of the latest design solutions.
  • Ensuring adherence to reliable ECU communication protocols in line with industry standards.
  • Interpreting electronic schematic diagrams and corresponding wiring diagrams.
  • Considering design for manufacturability in programming and parameter configuration.
  • Monitoring system health and status through diagnostic protocols.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all designs, revisions, and updates.
  • Promoting the reuse of components and methodologies.
  • Supporting cause and effect analyses, including risk assessments and FMEA.

About You:

  • Experience in Tier 1 or OE sectors, particularly in system engineering or software development.
  • Qualification at HND/Degree level in an electronic/electrical technology discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety and Cybersecurity techniques.
  • Solid knowledge of low-level firmware integration and CAN bus protocols.
  • Proficient in using laboratory equipment to monitor system behavior.
  • Familiarity with software development techniques and various testing methodologies.
  • Comfortable working with electronic lab tools and conducting cause and effect analyses.
