Farrans Construction is a leading construction company with over 80 years of industry excellence. We are seeking a talented Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team and contribute to the success of our projects.

About the Role

As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with senior experts to optimize project costs and risks, ensuring top-notch quality and compliance with building regulations. Your duties will include:

  • Ensuring the development and delivery of projects align with business expectations, program, and budget.
  • Analyzing subcontract quotations.
  • Reviewing conditions and/or qualifications, assisting with drafting and negotiating contract types prior to submission of a tender.
  • Preparing interim applications, including works executed, materials on site, and works by subcontractors, for submission to the Client's team by agreed deadline.
  • Evaluating, measuring, and recovering contract variations.
  • Gathering records to confirm additional payments where required and defending claims received from subcontractors.
  • Reviewing, assessing, and reducing commercial and contractual risks.
  • Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors.
  • Responsible for effective dispute resolution.
  • Generating payments and distributing notices to suppliers and subcontractors, including the measurement of works and differences executed to evaluate final costs and accounts.
  • Contributing to the submission of weekly financial forecasting, including the assembling of contract costs.
  • Preparing estimates and costs of the work and when the project is in progress.
  • Keeping records of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and creating reports to show profitability.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Civil Engineering Degree with a 2:2 or higher.
  • A full UK manual driving license.
  • A passion for starting a career in the civils industry.
  • High attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organizational skills.
  • A strong interest in all aspects of engineering and a desire for a dynamic workplace that provides an outstanding career opportunity.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work flexibly in a team and be a hard worker.
